Our Purpose & Goals
Loomis Basin Historical Society was founded in 1993 for the purpose of discovering, collecting, preserving and making accessible the the history and heritage of the Loomis Basin people and communities.
We are working to identify and preserve places of historical interest, to promote public awareness of the history of the Loomis Basin, to educate the public on the importance of the Loomis Basin's role in history, and to encourage the development of a Loomis Basin history museum.
Our Towns
The Loomis Basin is located in the southwestern part Placer County, California. The Basin's rim is loosely defined by Boulder Ridge and the hills that parallel the American River (Folsom Lake). Our society focuses on the Basin communities of Loomis, Penryn, Newcastle and Granite Bay. Our neighbor organization, Rocklin Historical Society, covers the Rocklin community.
